WHO HAVE YOU TOLD???????
Let’s talk about it !
I wind up being the very first stop for many of the women I coach on their journey to find freedom from alcohol. They haven't told a soul, often not even their husbands, that the nightly wine isn't serving them anymore. It's scary, and I get it.
When I decided to examine my relationship with alcohol, I was petrified. I didn't have one friend that was alcohol-free. I felt like I had no one to talk to.
Can I encourage you today, babe? It doesn't have to be this way for you. You aren't alone, and getting hooked on alcohol, an addictive drug, isn't anything to be ashamed of. As Brené Brown writes, “If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.”
When you share your struggles with alcohol, beautiful, magical things happen because not only do you help yourself, but you help those around you. When we open up, other women feel like they can open up.
Every woman I know has, at one point in their life, questioned alcohol, even if it’s just, “I really shouldn’t have another, I don't want to be hungover for drop-off.”
So let’s all start talking about how alcohol makes us feel.
Let’s talk about how alcohol may no longer be serving you.
Let’s talk about how it's making you exhausted.
Let's talk about how our patience with our kids is shot when we drink.
Let's talk about how drinking is putting a strain on our marriages.
Let's talk about how vacations never seem long enough because the rosé is robbing us of true rest.
I'm here to hear you, but you can also seek out other awesome coaches, trusted friends or family.
The second you start talking is when you start healing.
